On 2019-10-06 by (mod) - information on troubleshooting air conditioner screaming and water noises
Carolyn,
By searching InspectApedia.com for 'air conditioner noises' using the search box on this page you'll find several articles that give a more-detailed step by step discussion and diagnosis of the noises in your window AC unit than I can re-type here.
Take a look at
NOISES, HVAC SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS - home - as a good place to start;
Or on that page you'll find
HVAC NOISE-5 SCREAM SING TRUMPET WHINE WUWU - scream, sing, squeal, trumpet, water gurgling, whine, whistling, wuwuwu
that includes a discussion of screaming air conditioner noise sources.
For the running water noise I'd look at condensate handling first, but keep in mind that if the screaming is the air conditioner compressor there may be a control or even a compressor motor failure, so it's important that you contact the manufacturer with that concern while the unit is still under warranty?
Answer this diagnostic question: is it possible that the air conditioner was transported to your home on its back or side - failing to respect any 'this side up' warnings on the box?

I got a new 8,000 BTU Frigidaire window AC only a month ago and it has been quiet and cooling my small Bedroom without a problem until this morning,
it started having high pitched screaming and sounds of water inside when I woke up. I didn't know if the sounds were coming from the AC right away until it became a continuous screaming that went on for a while and I also heard water inside the AC.
It then turned itself off. I left it off for several hours and then turned it on again to see if that would help.
It still had some sounds of water swishing around inside, but it no longer had any screaming on the AC or on the Fan Mode, and it is still cooling the room. It only sounds now is like there is still water swishing around gently inside like paddling a boat. Is this safe? I usually leave it on all night and during the day and just change it from high to low speed or switch temperature lower or higher if needed

On 2019-10-06 by Drew - asbestos in walls of a 1954 home?
Hello,
My home was built in 1954. I had my plaster and the board behind the plaster on my interior walls tested for asbestos. The test came back negative for all asbestos materials. However I was in my basement today and noticed this brown material above my basement windows. It looks like it is between the wood frame and the exterior brick. I noticed it’s flaking away in some areas
. I did not get this material tested yet and I wanted to check on here if I am being paranoid or not. I worry because my home is older and I have young kids so I worry about this a lot. I felt better when I received the test back on my interior walls but would like some piece of mind on this material.
Any help with this would be amazing hopefully someone has seen this or they are an expert builder. Thank you so much I would hate to spend money on another test if it’s not worth it. I’m very novice with this subject so help would be great. Thanks so much

On 2019-10-02 by (mod) - finding information about RF signals and hazards
Anon:
RF signals do not produce the symptoms that you describe. My best advice is to start with a careful consult with your doctor. Ask her if your symptoms and health complaints could be caused or aggravated by ANY environmental hazard. That in turn will help you find where to focus your further investigation.
Details are at EMF ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS & HUMAN EXPOSURE found by searching this website for Radio Frequencies and Electromagnetic Field Hazards
On 2019-10-02 by Anonymous
We know that we're under RF signals. There's surface skin burning and diarrhea. Muscle twitching and Headaches. Weight loss. RF signals are projected through the window and walls. This is done purposely 247. I need help to prove it.

On 2019-09-23 by (mod) - can water softener resin get used up or need replacement
Yes Rosen can become exhausted and eventually stop absorbing sodium ions. If you search the website for 'replace water softener resin' or for 'water softener resin' you'll see a series of articles describing the procedure in a typical quantities, such as
WATER SOFTENER RESIN REPLACEMENT
On 2019-09-22 by Gene Lair
I have been using the same water softener for 35 years I have done all the repairs that has been needed. I bought an extra valve body so I can just unscrew the one not working and put on a repaired one. My neighbor heard what I was doing she had a Culligan and always had trouble so she got one like I got I have kept them both going.
l at mid summer I was not getting soft water checking out the brine tank and was to clean out brine tank and the floor for salt and the support base was gone I made a new stainless steel floor and used new 4 inch water pipe as support pieces with cutout at bottom to keep my SS up off the floor. But I have not had good soft water since we have made a new SS floor ?
How much resin should be in the resin tank at what level below opening? Can this resin wear out abraid it self away and need to be replaced? Does this resin need to be replaced or just need cleaned?
